Two Truths and One Lie is a participatory and playful activity that encourages interaction and mutual understanding among participants. Each person shares three statements about themselves, two of which are true and one that is false. The rest of the group must guess which one is the lie. This activity is ideal for breaking the ice, building trust, and creating a relaxed atmosphere.

Preparation

  1. Define the purpose:
    • What do you want to achieve with this activity?
      • Breaking the ice in a new group?
      • Strengthening trust and communication?
      • Creating a positive and relaxed work environment?
  2. Prepare the space:
    • In-person: Arrange a circle or small tables to facilitate interaction.
    • Virtual: Use platforms with microphone and chat options, such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
  3. Materials:
    • Cards or paper and pencils for participants to write down their statements (optional).
    • Digital tools for writing statements in a chat or collaborative whiteboard (for virtual settings).

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Introduction to the purpose
    • Explain the rules of the activity and the goal of getting to know each other in a fun way.
  2. Individual preparation
    • Ask each participant to think of three statements about themselves:
      • Two must be true.
      • One must be a lie.
    • Encourage participants to be creative and share interesting or unexpected facts.
  3. Turn-taking
    • Each participant shares their three statements with the group without revealing which one is the lie.
  4. Group guessing
    • The rest of the group discusses and votes on which statement they believe is the lie.
    • The participant reveals the correct answer and can share a brief story about the true statements.
  5. Repeat the process
    • Continue until all participants have had their turn.
  6. Closure and reflection
    • Reflect on what was learned about the teammates.
    • Thank everyone for participating and creating a relaxed atmosphere.
